St Mary's DSG: Foundation
The St Mary's DSG Foundation exists primarily for the establishment of a fund which will finance bursaries for students whose parents would not ordinarily be able to afford the school fees, and in the long term to establish a fund which will secure future capital development of the school. It is also used to provide short term financial assistance to families who may experience financial challenges during the academic year.
Along with providing financial assistance to parents and funding our bursary programme the Foundation has in the past funded capital projects such as the building of the main reception area, the school shop, and the refurbishing of the board room centre.
Some of our parents had elected to contribute to the St Mary's DSG Foundation fund via their school accounts that were debited termly. For these donations an annual section 18 A receipt was always issued, and this donation is deductible for tax purposes when submitting your annual tax return.
Following advice obtained from our auditors, from 1 March 2023, we can no longer charge this amount to the school account. Instead, parents will need to make a direct payment using the pay fast link or making donations through the account's office.
We want to thank the parents that have made this voluntary commitment to the Foundation fund. We would like to encourage parents to continue making these voluntary donations, and to reach out to friends of DSG who are able to donate, either in an individual capacity or as corporate members from their company, to do so.
