SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GRADE 8 2020
The following Scholarships are available for Grade 8 2020 at St Mary’s DSG.
1. Centenary ( Academic) Scholarship
There are four Scholarships valued at 50% of the tuition fees, which continue for the entire Senior School career of the pupil, should there be no reason during this time to revoke it.
One of these is a Closed Scholarship, reserved for a girl from St Mary’s DSG Junior School. The other three are Open Scholarships. (St Mary’s DSG Junior School pupils will also be considered for these). All pupils wishing to be considered for the Scholarship must do the Mathematics and English Entry Assessments on Saturday 09 March 2019. Scholarships are considered partially as a result of these results.
Should pupils wish to be considered for the Centenary Scholarships, a letter of application MUST be received by the Admissions Secretary before 15h00 on Wednesday, 13 March 2019.
From these results, candidates will be invited to interviews which will select the final scholarship winners. Candidates who are shortlisted will be notified and interviews will take place in the afternoons of 26 and 27 March 2018.
Extra-territorial applicants who are not able to be at the Open Day may arrange to do the tests under verified supervision at their current school.
2. Music and Sport Scholarships
Applications should be submitted according to the stipulations available from the Admissions Secretary, Ms Nono Masunyane, before 15h00 on Wednesday, 13 March 2019, from whom the relevant forms can also be obtained.
Auditions for the Music Scholarship will take place in the afternoons of 01 April 2019 to 02 April 2019, followed by interviews. Sport scholarship interviews will similarly be arranged on these dates. Both these scholarships have a value of 50% of tuition fees applicable throughout the Senior School career.
Should there be a suitably qualified second applicant an additional Scholarship to the value of one-third of the tuition fees may be awarded.
3. Botswana Closed Scholarship
This Scholarship carries a value of 50% of the tuition fees and is limited to students from Botswana. Applications, by email, should be received before 15h00 on Wednesday, 13 March 2019. All pupils wishing to be considered for the Scholarship must do the Mathematics and English Entry Assessments on Saturday 9 February 2019 at Northside Primary School at 09:00 or alternatively on Saturday 09 March 2019 at St Mary’s DSG Pretoria at 7:30.No single criteria will determine this award, and it will be entirely at the discretion of the Selection Committee.
All scholarship letters should be accompanied by St Mary’s DSG completed enrolment form. St Mary’s DSG current Grade 7 girls should submit scholarship letters only.
